A delightful stop on the road. The cutest, cosiest little venue where the scones are light and fluffy and the tea served in proper china. The roasted lamb roll was moist and delicious with fresh focaccias. The room has a collection of trinkets and second hand goods which you think would be tacky but it’s nicely put together. On a rainy day like today would stop in again for sure, in the summer the garden would be gorgeous too. The staff are friendly and make everything themselves.
What a little gem of a place. Friendly, helpful people and very yummy food. The scones were moist and fluffy. Quirky eclectic decor could keep me busy fir days.
Rustic Cafe that serves amazing scones. Fluffy on the inside and 'crackling' on the outside. Chicken Turkish sandwich was generous and served with a side of vege chips, yums. Along with well brewed coffees and teas to wash it all down. Located in between Wynyard and Stanley just before the beautiful boat harbour beach, perfect for a stopover.
Unexpected gem! The builiding was constructed by the owners all with material cut and milled on-site. That is just to start. The food is definately home cooking - they use the best local ingredients available. Staff are cheerful and very helpful. We have stopped in several times, each time left us with a warm feeling and well fed.
Great pit stop for lunch during our drive from Cradle Mountain to Stanley. I was so surprised with their extensive menu which featured some wholesome dishes which are really unique - something different from the usual items you see at other cafes. We ordered their scone with cream/jam (thumbs-up) and special lunch dishes- fish curry with rice (which at $32 might not be so wallet-friendly but was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband). Love the decor and the ambience too. The cafe also stocks vintage clothes. I was pleased to find some fabulous buys too after my meal. Busy owners warmed up after a short while to have a short lovely conversation with us.
We come to Thistle Hut as often as we can. We absolutely love the very good, simple, clean, home cooked meals. There are vegetarian or vegan options for one of us and the atmosphere is simply delightful. It's become our go-to for our anniversary and birthdays and we're happy with that!
It's like stepping into grandma's house as a child. The smell of home cooked meals and the warm welcome. There are so many different things to look at and purchase, just a real treasure trove.
What an amazing venue. I thought we would finally drop in to try the Devonshire tea. The scones were the best so far in Tassie and a nice strong coffee. Forget Boat Harbour, and I will be definitely stopping by to get my coffee from here on my way past from now on.
